Heritage Project

In 2024, Spire View Housing Association was delighted to be awarded £78,584 to deliver a two-year programme aimed at creating a digital heritage archive for the Royston area. This funding enabled the Association to recruit two part-time roles: a Heritage Engagement Officer and a Heritage Assistant.

Throughout the project, the Heritage team collected photographs, recorded oral histories, and delivered a range of creative workshops with groups and organisations across Royston.

The Royston Creative Heritage Project sought to broaden perceptions of heritage and make it more accessible to the diverse communities and lived experiences that make up Royston. Through public exhibitions, publications, and social media engagement, the project celebrated local stories, memories, and creative expression.

The programme culminated in the creation of an online platform showcasing the project's creative outputs, stories, and memories. The archive can be viewed here.
